Me Time Productions launches it's brand new website METIMELIVERC.COM

This new website has been a long time coming. We have been planning this for almost 2 years now and I am very excited to share with you a little bit about how and why we decided to do this!

We knew from the beginning that we wanted to promote the hobby, we also knew that it was going to take more than selling dvds to do it well. Selling the dvds absolutely helped us get to this point though. We sold thousands of them, all over the world. We've sent dvds to 30 different countries and made a name for ourselves in the R/C boating world. I might add, that we had a fabulous time doing it! We have met hundreds of boaters from all over the world and made some friendships to last a lifetime.

In March of 2009 we tested our first live broadcast at the World Tunnel Championships. We decided not to advertise that we were going to attempt this, we wanted to make sure we could do it and do it right before telling the public.

The morning of the first day of racing we posted it on our website and on International Waters hoping to get a few viewers to let us know how the picture was looking on their end. Well we got a few viewers alright, about 1500 of them that weekend.

I am just going to be honest here, the picture was terrible! We did manage to mike the announcers though, so the audio was coming through loud and clear. We tried another broadcast in May at the Carolina Showdown. It was a rainy weekend and we had much the same result, another 800 or so viewers and a crappy picture! But what we learned from this experience was that this live broadcasting was something the boating public was defiantly interested in! One viewer from over seas quoted "This is a dream come true."

After the first couple of attempts, Doug, Brian and myself got together to talk over our options. We knew this was something we’d wanted to try for a long time and from the looks of things could be potentially great for the hobby. We decided the time had come to act! If we were going to do this we knew we would have to make some serious time and monetary commitments to make it happen. Of course we decided to go for it!

We knew the first thing we needed to do was to redesign the website and it just so happened that an awesome web designer fell right into our laps! We hired him immediately and went to work on designing the new site. It had to be fun and interactive and I think we have accomplished that for sure.

The next thing we had to do was to figure out the bandwidth issues, server space issues, and upload speed issues. That took some doing but I think we have that under control. Next we had to figure out, how are we going to make this more interesting to watch? Well, I think we have that figured out now as well.

When Me Time shows up to cover an event we now have the capability to set up multiple cameras in various locations. We got a new software program that allows us to switch camera angles live as well as mixing in commercials or previous footage during the down times of the race, like in between heats. We've lined up hosts and free product give-aways and we are ready to roll for the next live event!

This was all very exciting, but we still needed to figure out how to cover more races. We have two young children at home and are limited on the amount of time that we can travel. The solution? Why not make the Me Time Live site available to everyone. That way even, if we can't attend the race, we can still host a live feed from our site. So....with a computer, internet access, a camera, some free software and a little help from us, anyone in the world can broadcast a race on Me Time Live!

Then we realized, why limit it to just races? People could broadcast other things as well, like tech sessions, builds, online tutorials, plus the live chat module would make it really easy to do Q&A's with some of the worlds best racers!

We are hoping to put together a show called Friday Night Live. Every Friday night we will have a different host talking about something rc related. You can ask questions through the chat and interact live with the host!

Plus, and this is the coolest part! If you miss the live feed, we have set things up so that our server is automatically recording our broadcasts and once the broadcast is over it goes immediately to the archives page where it can be viewed at anytime!

We think we really have something going here and we really hope that people will catch on to the potential this site has to offer the hobby and will pitch in and support us in our efforts!

That’s all for now! Thanks for reading!
