I've never created a blog before but I figured.....what the heck, maybe I will think of something interesting to say! You never know!
Doug and I just got back from a great weekend in Orlando Florida where we covered the Orlando Winter Nationals LIVE! It was a fantastic! I so enjoy spending time with our boating friends! I finally feel like, after 3 years of covering these races, that I have formed close friendships with many of the racers and now it is starting to feel like family. I feel welcome and thats a great feeling. When you are trying hard to accomplish something you think is worth while it is really nice to have so many people encouraging you and cheering you on and supporting you. I appreciate that so much!
We are snowed in yet again here in Martinsville, VA, so today I have been building a standard web page for the clubs. It is my goal to get every club in the country that does not currently have a web page to get on board with metimeliverc and have a web page with us! The club pages are going to be very simple and VERY easy to keep updated! They will consist of an about us section, club news, event calender, photo gallery, contact us, and directions to the pond......
Here is my thinking on the matter.......It's 2010 people! Time to get with the program:) Every club in America should have a web page!! I really truly believe it WILL help grow the hobby, and I know what some of you are thinking.....it's to expensive to have a website, it too time consuming, we don't know how to keep it updated bla bla bla...... Listen to me! We are basically doing this for FREE! Yes, we are going to charge a small fee of $25.00 per year to help us cover the cost of the extra space on our site, but thats it! You will not be paying someone $500 to $1000 bucks to design a site for you, we have already done that part! You will not be paying for a domain name, you get to use ours! You will not be paying $10 or $15 bucks a month for server space. It's a win win!!
All your club has to do is say YES I want my web page on metimeliverc! We will help you with everything else, It is so easy to keep up to date, and I really really really believe it will help us all to keep this hobby alive and growing!
OK, I am done ranting about the club pages! Another thing we are working on is a new show that will air every other Friday night......I am going to host it and every episode will feature a different guest with a specific topic of conversation.Viewers can type questions into the chat and we can all just hang out for an hour or so and talk about boats! Should be fun! We may even throw in a few blooper reels just for fun:) I am open to suggestions for topics of episodes as well as who you would really like to see as a special guest!
OK, So this was not so bad for my first blog.......I am going to see if I can keep this going weekly, but don't be surprised if sometimes instead of talking about boat racing I go off on a rant about how my 8 year old got in trouble at school or whats happening on my favorite reality tv show! Right now my fave is the Bachelor....silly I know, but I can't help it! That Jake is so darn cute and clueless all at the same time! It makes for good entertainment! And yes, I do know that it is not really "reality":)
Till next week!
